Tech Week

This week is tech week for Oklahoma. The costumes come in, the children rehearse on the the big stage and the final preparations are made, culminating in the performances on Friday (evening) and 2 on Saturday (matinée and evening.) Dress rehearsals are closed, so parents don't see the performance until it's live--except for a sneak peek during vocal recitals on Tuesday. This is always an exciting week for Aenea, made more so because this is also her last week of school before the Holiday break. She did her sweets exchange early because her "secret pal" is heading to India for the break today. We made simple sugar cookies with Hershey's Kisses sunk into the center.

I've gotten some shopping in here and there -- lots more to do including teachers and eek -- holiday postcards! I have been keeping up with the knitting---my theme is still "things that are rectangle shaped." I've made one computer screen cleaner, a headband, six scarves, finished one belt and working on another and I have yarn for several other projects in the knitting basket. I'm hoping to get to a hat soon (where I will learn decreasing!) I have learned the basic knit, perl and stockinette stitches and just finished a scarf in seed stitch. The belt I'm making (my first thing for ME) is made like the seed stitch but in each row you slip the even stitches over, alternating the type they are (knit or perl) with each row (this stitch probably has a name, but the pattern I'm using didn't name it and I haven't found it in my pattern books yet.) It's supposed to give it a linen like look. I'm using Sugar and Cream (lovely stuff, made Aenea's belt with it) and #3 bamboo needles.

This about ends this blogging break. I have to get myself over to Curves now that I have settled from an early lunch (teacher potluck day.) I'm down to 182 and counting--eight pounds to go for my first goal of a less than 30 BMI. I can now wear all my misses size 16 pants with my shirts tucked in and the pants belted. I started my 40th year with 18 pluses that were too tight to look good with a belt.

I love reading about your knitting adventures. I've been knitting for many, many years but am not really beyond knitting hats in my abilities. Maybe one day I will tackle a sweater but I am not holding my breath.

Congrats on your dedication to making a healthier you. Despite the fact that I thought you looked perfect before it sounds as though you are happy reaching your goals!!! I should set some for myself for the new year and both of the weddings I am to be in.

Take care

Sorry about so many repeats on the comments. Blogger was saying it wasn't going through so I kept trying without checking.

That's OK, I just though for a minute that my blog had gotten popular ;-)
