Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the US. Even those of you who aren't in the US or celebrating -- I wish you a wonderful day.

It's a good thing to have a day to reflect on that for which we are thankful...and of course, one thing to be thankful for is the wonderful food so special to each family. At our feast we had Turkey and Tofurkey, mashed and boiled potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes and souffle carrots, stuffing gravy and rolls. Dessert was four different pies and vanilla ice cream. Good thing my pants are so loose now!

We had 16 people and we gathered at the house of my #1 MIL and her DH. They just received the Certificate of Occupancy on the addition that has been in the works for nearly three years. I am thankful that the building part is done and Jeremy's mother's parent's can move into it, and that the sale of their house closes on the 30th. I am thankful for those that gathered. We had in-laws and members of my family. I am thankful that some portion of us get along well enough to gather. I miss those who aren't gathered with us due to distance either physical or emotional.

I am thankful for my friends. I have had time to email and IM with some of them today, and I am glad to have those technologies to keep in touch with them. I picked up some new knitting skills today, and I am thankful for my friend who got me started. My mother was the one to teach me today's skills and we have not had many opportunities for her to pass down her knowledge to me. I am thankful for my friend who invited me to help her with set-up for her feast and for the party on Saturday -- it is so wonderful to have such a dear friend around whom I can just be Sandy, and that I get to see her frequently (although not as frequently as I'd prefer.)

Tomorrow I am doing something I have only done once before -- shopping on Black Friday. I am meeting up with some friends from the school to scout for bargains at...Staples. If I find some, great, and if not, well, I'll still to get know these friends better, and that is something to be thankful for.
