Computers, computers

Day two into the great computer room redo at Sun Grove, and things are going well. The first challenge was figuring out how the camera software was blowing out communications with the scanner. Having worked around it, we now have one computer devoted to graphics work, yay!

Then I was able to configure the netdrive and point all My Documents folders there so I don't have to go look for teacher's documents when they write them on one computer, save them locally and try to edit on others. I also installed my first server based software, Open Office. One teacher freind will be thrilled to be able to use it on all the computers since she likes it better than Office (some would say that is a wise choice.) I have also removed a whole lot of dust (my voice betrays that.)

So I get home from that last night and was asked to get my SIL's computer on our wireless. Should be easy since I just have to configure our non-broadcast SSID and give her a code. Weeeellll, her card either does not like encrypted keys or it's just plain broken. Then my hardware fails, but I happened to have a neto combo USB wi-fi receiver/wifinder, and the third time was the charm. I gave my tech fairy wand a good shake after that one!!

I also got to have lunch with my dear friend today. Her birthday on Saturday (that I missed) sucked, so we had ice cream with our whine at Friendly's after our good healthy salads. As has become our tradition, we are doing something she has never done before to celebrate. This year its a two-mile walk over a large, high span bridge. I will see how my fear of heights fares.
