I have a better connection here in LA, so I can now type up what we did in NYC.
We went to two Broadway shows -- Tarzan, which I can best describe as "bungeerific" and Hairspray, which was quite true to the spirit and message of the film; I really enjoyed seeing it. We hung around the theater after the show and Aenea was able to get autographs from Haylie Duff and Blake Hammond on her CD booklet -- she was so excited and both of these actors were sweet and friendly, particularly Haylie since she has already finished her "time" for autographs and had to grab a pen to sign Aenea's CD and also because Saturday is the day the cast has to put on two shows. Aenea connected with that really well (from the shows she has done) and was very polite and thanked both the actors.
We also took a tour bus around the Manhattan/Downtown area and stopped at the UN, were we had just enough time to look at the picture displays on the first floor. That was very moving. We did get some shopping in, at the discount stores on 34th Ave. Overall, even though it is busy and noisy 24/7 I was OK with NYC and look forward to being able to make quick weekend trips there when we live in Vermont.
As for LA, wow, not only is it large and noisy, but one has to drive with abandon like I did when I was 19 just to get around. That really frazzles my nerves more than I expected. Aenea, however, has re-connected with a friend she met in the United Kingdom (the sister of the groom) and they are enjoying being kindred spirits together again after four years. They are so cute together, and I will have to get a picture of the two of them up as soon as I can get one.
